Arastradero Information

Welcome to the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve
The Pearson-Arastradero Preserve is located in Palo Alto, California, which is about a ten minute drive from my home. I must have ventured here about a million times by now. It is my favorite place to hike, observe nature, and study our local ecosystem. It has a variety of wildlife that I love to write about and document. Most often, I will find mule deer, different species of rabbits, and wild turkeys. Although there are many other species of mammals, reptiles, birds, and many other animals, it takes a few hikes over a time period to find a different animal. The Pearson-Arastradero Preserve has a variety of wildlife from powerful predators, big birds of prey, to small salamanders waiting to be seen. When I go to the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve, I try to maximize seeing animals, so if you want to find them, the best time to visit is at sunrise, and sunsets. Of course you can see wildlife any time of the day, but in the morning, the night grazers and hunters retreat to their dens. At sunset, they come out once more.
