Have you ever seen an owl? What do you know about them? Do you think they are nocturnal? Not all owls are nocturnal; some even venture out during the day. You can tell by their eye color. If an owl's eyes are black, that means it appears during the night to gaze at the dark night
sky. If the owl's eyes are orange, that means it debuts during sunrise and sunset to peer at the orange sky. If the owl's eyes are yellow, it emerges in broad daylight to see the yellow sun. Two-thirds of an owl's brain consists of the eyes, and two-thirds of the remaining third is taken up by the owl's excellent hearing. That leaves one-sixth of the brain space for other brain activities. Owls are not that intelligent compared to other birds because of their eyesight and hearing. Contrary to popular belief, I see owls quite often, around 30-40% of the time I go hiking. I most often see Great Horned Owls. Most owls at the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve have orange eyes, so if you want to see them, I would recommend hiking at dusk. You can see owls during any season, especially in the winter because they reveal themselves earlier in the day. I love owls, and I hope you have found this page informational.
